Radar Level Gauge

Principle

Radar Level Gauge

Overview

The measuring reference plane is the threaded bottom face or the sealing face of the flange.

Note: when using a radar level gauge, be sure that the highest material level does not enter the measurement dead zone (the area marked D in the figure).

Key Features

  • The antenna is small in size and easy to install; non-contact radar with no wear and no pollution.
  • Almost unaffected by corrosion or foam, and almost unaffected by changes in water vapour, temperature and pressure in the atmosphere.
  • Shorter wavelength, giving better reflection from inclined solid surfaces.
  • The beam angle is small and the energy is concentrated, which both enhances the echo capability and helps to avoid interfering objects.
  • The measurement dead zone is smaller, giving good results even for small tank measurement.
  • High signal-to-noise ratio, achieving better performance even under fluctuating conditions.
