Figure 1-1 Physical view of the earth pressure cell

The vibrating wire earth pressure cell mainly consists of a pressure-bearing diaphragm, a sealed cover, an induction coil and a high-strength steel wire. There are two string clamps on the pressure-bearing diaphragm, to which the steel string is connected, as shown in Figure 2-1 below. In use, a change in pressure on the structure causes the pressure-bearing diaphragm to deform. This tiny deformation changes the tension of the steel string and thus affects its oscillation frequency. By measuring the change in oscillation frequency, the change in pressure on the pressure-bearing diaphragm can be converted and obtained.
